Letter tp Whole School - Physiotherapy Provision at Meadow High School
Dear Parents/Carers,
Re: Physiotherapy Provision at Meadow High School
I am writing to inform you that Sonali, our Physiotherapist, will be leaving Meadow High School after Easter. She will be returning for two additional days on the 28th and 29th of April to support students before her departure.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Sonali for the invaluable contribution she has made to the school community and wish her well in her future endeavours.
Following Sonali’s departure, there will be no replacement Physiotherapist at Meadow High School. CNWL will continue to provide Physiotherapy support for students via the Child Development Centre (CDC) or other relevant teams, depending on the student’s local authority.
From May 2025 onwards, no therapy led physiotherapy programmes will take place on-site. However, class based staff led programmes may continue, if this is a mandatory requirement in the students EHC plan. Annual Physiotherapy assessments will still be conducted at the school by a Physiotherapist from CDC or another relevant team, depending on the borough that the student resides in.
Any ongoing Physiotherapy advice will come directly from these external teams, and guidance on support will be provided via parents/carers as necessary.
The therapy team at Meadow will continue to signpost Meadow staff and families to relevant external professionals as needed. However, we will not be able to provide any advice or physical intervention regarding Physiotherapy programmes on-site from May 2025 onwards.
If you have any questions or require further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely,
Gillian Sapiano

17th March 2025
Dear Parent/Carers,
To support students with their learning in Art we have arranged workshops for all 6th form Art and Design students.
Please see highlighted below which course your child is currently studying in Art and Design:
Year 1 Accreditation
Year 2 GCSE
AS Level
Students studying GCSE Art year 2 and AS Level will be in the art workshop Monday to Friday next week
Monday- 24th to Friday the 28th March.
Students who are studying year 1 accredited Art will be in the workshops on Wednesday the 26th for the day from 9:40- 3:00 and Thursday morning 27th March for 2 periods from 9:40- 11:10.
Students who are studying year 2 GCSE and AS Level Art will be in the workshops from 9:15: 3:00 for the week except for their English lessons.
The purpose of the workshops is to support work experience so pupils learn to experience working consistently on a body of work for a longer period. It also aimed to support accreditation. The experience aims to give pupils the opportunity to develop their ideas for their accreditation, without distraction to help them achieve optimum accreditation.
For year 12/13: This is also the opportunity to assess the best course of study for next year i.e. for those taking Year 1 accreditation, would they be better suited to studying a higher AQA accreditation next year (cycle 2 of year 1 accreditation) or might they be ready for GCSE next (year 2 accreditation).
Or for year 2 GCSE are they ready for AS Level art next year, or are they better suited for AQA Level 2 embedding independence and careers focus next year studying AQA units at Level 2-3.
Please could you support pupils by explaining the value of these life experiences and reminding them of what to expect next week.
N.B. All students will still attend their relative English lessons, those in year 14 who are not doing GCSE or AS Level Art will still attend external work experience on Thursday.

Dear Parent/Carer,
As part of our school’s celebration of Eid, we are organising a special Eid party for our students on Thursday,
3rd April 2025.
One of the activities planned for the event is the application of Mehndi on the children’s hands.
Mehndi application is a traditional and culturally significant practice during Eid festivities. It is an opportunity for our students to engage with and celebrate cultural diversity within our school community.
We assure you that the Mehndi paste we will be using is safe and made from natural ingredients. However, we understand that some parents may have concerns about their child participating in this activity, particularly if their child has allergies.
If your child has any known allergies or sensitivities, please indicate so on the slip below. Additionally, if you would like to give permission for your child to have henna applied on their hand during the Eid party, please complete the slip below and return it to the school.
Many thanks,

If you specifically would not like your child to bring their phone on the trip please notify their Form Tutor or Art teacher by the 19th of March at the latest.

12th February 2025
Dear Parents / Carers,
Brentford FC CST: A free full day at Battle of Britain Bunker and The Norman Leddy Gardens
I'd like to invite your students to the next Short-Breaks activity, which we'll deliver free of charge.
Before going through the details, bear in mind that enclosed to this email, you can find:
- The consent form is needed for every participant.
- A flyer that you can forward to the families.
During the Spring half-term, through the AccessAbility project, Brentford FC CST will continue to deliver a free-of-charge day for young people aged 14-25 years with a disability or who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
I am thrilled to invite you to an exciting day structured for the first time this year; you will be the first to participate!
- In the morning, we'll have a guided visit to the Battle of Britain Bunker, the underground bunker where the RAF was stationed during the Second World War. It's perfectly preserved; literally, it's like a time machine through history.
- In the afternoon, we'll visit Norman Leddy Memorial Gardens, one of the borough's gardens of excellence. The gardens are popular for planting commemorative trees and shrubs, and their layout allows circular and linear walks for people of all ages and abilities.
The detailed information about the day is as follows:
- Date: Monday, 17th February 2025.
- Meeting time: 10 am at Battle of Britain Bunker (Wren Ave, Uxbridge UB10 0GG).
- Collecting time: 3 pm at The Norman Leddy Gardens (Hayes End Rd, Hayes UB4 8EJ).
Key information for the day:
- If your child requires one-to-one support, we request that a parent or carer stay with them throughout the trip.
- We'll take a bus to move from Battle of Britain Bunker to The Norman Leddy Gardens; if you won't be with your daughter/son, give him/her an Oyster for the short trip.
- Lunch will not be provided.
Please give us:
- The overall number of spaces you would like to book, i.e., Robert Ross + 1.
- The participants' full names, specifying if they are participants or parents/careers.
This trip is completely free of charge to all participants. Spaces are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you book a space, please attend the session. Otherwise, you are keeping a slot that another family cannot take.
For more information or to book a space for your child/young adult/student, please get in touch with Antonio Scicchitano: ascicchitano@brentfordfccst.com
Enclosed in this email you can find the sensory map for the Battle of Britain Bunker too.
We would love to see you there!
Kind regards,
Antonio Scicchitano (AccessAbility Project Coordinator)

Letter (all pupils) Brentford FC Para Talent Pathway
12th February 2025
Dear Parents / Carers,
Brentford FC CST: Para Talent Pathway
The Football Association has a programme called England Para Talent Pathway; it is a program that helps players with specific impairments develop their skills to aspire to play for the England Para squad. In details:
- Football ability: No previous skill is required to start training at an England Para squad Hub .
- Impairments: To include players with cerebral palsy, visual, or hearing impairments .
- Goal: To find players with the potential to play for England, even if they are "hidden" in mainstream clubs .
Brentford FC Community Trust is an accredited centre for the England Para Talent Pathway, and we often organise England Para Talent ID days .
That means I can forward students with cerebral palsy, visual, or hearing impairments to the proper centre so they can start playing football and aspire to be national England Players .
You can find more information at:
- Video of one of our PARA Talent ID Day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1hsFsOR75I
- England Para Talent pathway TheFA website: https://www.englandfootball.com/play/Disability-Football/England-Para-Talent-Pathway
If you have any players who could start this pathway, please do not hesitate to message me. I can then come at Meadow Special School to follow up.
All the best!
Kind regards,
Antonio Scicchitano (AccessAbility Project Coordinator)

Details of the game are:
Wealdstone FC vs Ebbsfleet FC
Saturday 22nd February 2025

27 January 2025
Dear Parents / Carer
After School Club; Gymnastics with NMO Sports
Your child has successfully gained a place at the above club. The club will start from Wednesday 29 January 2025 for 8 weeks.
Payment of £5-per-session needs to be made on ParentPay before the start of each session. If payment has not been received by lunchtime on the day, parents will be informed that their child will be going home at normal time (15:05). If participation numbers reduce, the price may have to be reviewed. Parents will be contacted of this PRIOR to any changes.
Please note, students will be required to bring their own PE kit to wear. If for any reason they cannot attend the club that week, please send a message to either myself or the school reception.
Please be aware, in order for this club to run MHS staff are supporting on a voluntary basis, so there is no extra MHS staffing. If your child is unable to access the club or does not take part we will have to withdraw them from the club. Lastly, if your child does not wish for a place anymore please let me know as soon as possible.

Letter to Whole School - Flair Survey
Dear Parent,
During the week of the 3rd February 2025, all students and staff will receive an email invite to take part in an anonymous 'Race In The School Community' questionnaire, run by an external company called FLAIR.
The questions will provide an opportunity for students and staff to reflect on their views and experiences related to race while at school. The responses will give us a better idea of student and staff experiences and help us to understand in which areas we can improve. The findings from this research will also help guide our policy decisions.
The questionnaire is anonymous and names are not attached to the responses, so we have no way of knowing who completed it. To guarantee that participants remain anonymous, a confidentiality threshold of 5 has been set. It is very important to us that our students and staff are completely honest.
The questionnaire only takes 10 minutes to complete and will be done in school time, with the support of your child’s teachers and teaching assistants.
What happens next?
In the next few days, students and staff will receive an email link to complete the questionnaire.
Once results are in, we will share key findings so you can see how we are doing. Action planning will then begin shortly after. At each stage, we will share our progress with you.
Thank you for playing your part in our efforts to continually improve our culture. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
Many thanks,

Letter to Y10 Pathway 1 - Duke of Edinburgh Award Bronze
9th January 2025
Dear Parents/Carers,
Pupils in Year 10 class have been working towards their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. To achieve the full award pupils are required to undertake a 2 day, 1 night expedition.
We are arranging two expeditions to cater for the number of young people ready to take on this adventure. The first one is planned for 19th and 20th June 2025. We have 8 spaces available. We have more pupils than spaces so, if not attending this expedition, another will run in either September 2025 or June 2026 to ensure all pupils achieve the award.
The expedition will occur at Rickmansworth Canoe Sports Trust for two days undertaking water sports, including canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding (pupils do not need to be able to swim). Pupils will then ‘camp’ (in the classroom/school field) on the Thursday night. They will also be cooking their own food for dinner on the Thursday evening (if needed food can be supplied from home).
It is a great opportunity for pupils to undertake a new challenge and push themselves. Familiar staff from school will support throughout the duration of the expedition. All pupils' needs will be discussed in advance with families to ensure everyone is supported and feeling confident to undertake the expedition.
Unfortunately, if the young people do not attend an expedition, they won't achieve the full award. They will still receive their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award for the sections they have achieved in school but will not achieve the full accreditation.
Please reply by 17th January and I will inform families and pupils who will be attending on which dates.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact fbonnar@meadowhighschool.org
Many thanks,
