Governing Body effectiveness and impact

  1. Governors are aware of the changes to the way the school with gather and record data about holistic pupil progress.

IMPACT: Governors have identified the need for regular updates and the new systems are implemented. Governors have delegated the Achievement Committee to scrutinise this at each meeting and report back to the FGB.

  1. Governors continue to have focus visits (Governors in school day) and to attend school events.

IMPACT: Governors are a known presence in the school community, among both staff, pupils and families. Focus visits allow Governors to dig deeper into information presented at Governing Body meetings.

  1. Governors, after testing proposals and rationales for robustness,  have supported changes and additions to the staffing structure.

IMPACT: Governors have ensured that the staffing structure has changed and adapted as the school has grown and pupil population altered in order to better meet the needs of the pupils. Staff training and development has been more focused and matched to identified individual requirements and the school development needs.

  1. Governors have ensured that sound financial planning has allowed the school to accumulate funds to build a sports hall as part of the DfE new school development.

IMPACT: Pupils will have a bespoke space for sport and PE lessons, allowing more lessons to take place on site, reducing travel time and increasing lesson time. The ‘main’ school hall will then be more accessible for other curriculum areas, projects and training.

  1. Governors have supported the change and development to the curriculum and pupil pathways.

IMPACT: The school has developed more bespoke provision for a wider range of pupils leading to better life outcomes.
