|
|
It is with profound sadness that we join the nation, the Commonwealth and the world in mourning the death of Her Late Majesty The Queen.
Our prayers are with The King and the Royal Family.
May God draw near them and comfort them in the days,
weeks and months ahead.
Out of respect to Her Late Majesty The Queen,
we delayed issuing the bulletin until today,
Monday 12 September 2022.

Dear Families
Welcome to the first bulletin of the 2022/2023 academic year!
Thank you for your patience whilst we have all become used to the new arrangements at the front of the school. As you may have seen, we are currently without car park gates (these will be fitted very soon) but pupils are safe behind the secure line and our lovely new fencing.
So, what took place here over the summer break?
- The complete refurbishment of our Design Technology space with upgraded lighting, extraction, flooring, cupboards and equipment,
- The Sports hall, MUGA, library, cycle-walking path, field and car park were finished,
- Re-decorating worn areas and 'snagging' (sorting out small issues left behind from the building project),
- Planting and the development of areas around the school.
With regard to the car park and the drop off / pick up of pupils, please may I remind you of the following:
- You can drop off your child in the drop off zone by driving on site up to 8.25am, but you must not park or exit the vehicle. Your child will then wait at the front of school for the gates to be opened at 8.30am. They will be unsupervised during this time.
- All other pupils should be dropped off by walking your child to the gate / on site.
- At the end of the day no parent vehicles are allowed on site until every transport vehicle has departed, this can be up to 3.20pm or even later occasionally.
- Only families who have been issued a parent car pass are allowed to come on site outside the arrangements above.
- Thank you in anticipation of your compliance and in keeping all our pupils safe.
Breakfast club
Breakfast club is open to all at 8.30am either for a free half bagel or bowl of cereal or to purchase other items. We will be re-surveying families regarding an earlier opening of the breakfast club.
PE kit and uniform
It was wonderful to see the vast majority of pupils looking smart in their school uniform or 6th form clothes this week. Please ensure your child has all the uniform they need and, if you are struggling financially to buy anything, please make contact with Kathleen Bentley to discuss this, as we are able to offer some support.
Lunch
We are delighted to announce that we are trialling adding a pasta bar to our daily lunch options. Pasta King will be available for tasters to those who want to try the food (and have no allergies / preferences that preclude this). After the tasters, pupils will be able to opt for pasta as their meal option.

Message from the
Meadow High School Governors
Dear Parents & Carers
Welcome to the new school year at Meadow High School to all our new and returning pupils, carers, parents and staff from the school’s governors.
After two years of construction, and many more before that of planning, we’re just about there with the new build. We’ve rebuilt much of our teaching space, refurbished most of that which remains, have a new sports hall, a new main hall, multi-use games area and much better parking facilities. All while keeping the school running, so it’s been a tremendous achievement. Thanks to all those who worked so hard and put up with the inconveniences along the way. For those joining the school this year, enjoy it, and we can show you some photos of how it used to be!
Just when we thought we had seen enough diggers and cranes for a lifetime, the expansion of Meadow to the Northwood Road site and replacement of our dated temporary classrooms at Royal Lane became possible, after years of putting our case to the powers that be. We’re embracing this great opportunity, expanding and providing opportunities for more children at Meadow over the coming years. All the while maintaining our great reputation as a school and constantly improving the learning and life skills opportunities provided to our pupils.
So, who are we as governors, and what do we do? If you go to the school website and put “governors” in the search box you’ll get lots of detail. Briefly, we’re a mix of staff, parents, carers and local people with life and / or work experience in education. Together with the headteacher we set the school’s strategy, make sure it is financially sound and a safe place for our pupils and staff. We ensure the curriculum is relevant and challenging and provides opportunities for pupils to learn and develop life skills they can take away from Meadow. It’s important to say we don’t run the school, that’s in the very capable hands of the team led by our headteacher Mrs Rigby.
We’ll keep you informed of our actions and decisions throughout the year with occasional updates in the weekly bulletin, meanwhile we’re looking forward to another exciting school year and hope you are too.
Kind regards
Meadow High School Governors
