Farewell
I don't know where to start...Unfortunately, my journey at Meadow High School has come to an end. I have made so many amazing friends and made so many memories (mostly positive!).
Meadow High School is truly an amazing place to work. Both pupils and staff have been fantastic and have made my 5 years very special.
I will never forget Meadow High School and I will come back to visit one day.
I wish everyone all the best for the future. Remember “Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day-in and day-out.” — Robert Collier.
Thank you all so much for your support and guidance over the last 5 years.
Mr C Morgan

Library Update
– We’re getting there!
Team work has certainly made the dream work in the library this week! So many students from across the school have offered help and Miss Gaafar has run a record-breaking catalogue marathon which means books are appearing back on the shelves in record time. We anticipate being open for business in early January. We will keep you posted.

Meadow High School Hello
Youtube Channel
New Stories to enjoy!
Just a quick reminder: If you enjoy stories and other activities, you might want to check out our youtube channel Meadow High School Hello. Last year staff recorded some special seasonal stories, and this year we have been able to add two more; a new signed story called The Christmasaurus and one for history lovers about a special event that happened during Christmas 1914, Christmas Truce.
We will be adding two new stories each month, posting these on 1st of every month. These stories are designed to support engagement in reading, highlight exciting texts from our library and develop reading comprehension skills. It is also an opportunity for our students to do extra signing practise!

Trip to Odds Farm
9th December 2022
Last Friday we took a group of our intervention students to Odds Farm for the day. Everybody wrapped up in their hats, scarves, gloves and coats as it was very very cold! When we got there we fed the sheep and goats and saw some other animals. One particular naughty goat took our food, ate the bag and tried to bite our coats! Afterwards we then went to see an Elf show, Santa’s Grotto
and had some fun in the indoor play area. We also got a present from Santa, made a cuddly toy and had a go at some go-karting. All of the students were a pleasure to take out and behaved impeccably!
“My favourite part was the go-karting!” Tyler 9MK
“I enjoyed the elf show!” Sherice 11RE
“I liked my present from Santa!” Aaron G MP

Arts News
Just a little round up of some Arts news for the end of term. We have recently received our brand new Art chairs and notice boards for the Art rooms and are looking forward to receiving new specialist Grey Art studio tables in January and other furnishings, which were voted for by the students!
In the run-up to the holidays, we have had a really fun few weeks in the Arts.
KS3 year 7, 8 and 9 students enjoyed participating in a variety of Winter workshops, trying out a range of Art, Dance, Drama and Music activities. We were also fortunate to have some year 7 parents join us and help out doing Art and Craft with their children.
Year 11 students from Art, Drama and Dance Leaders were also involved in presenting, performing and helping run the events.
What was the feedback?
“We just can’t believe he is joining in with all the games, he has always liked doing Art and craft activities, but he never normally does games, it’s so nice to see him joining in with all his friends” said Frankie’s Mum -Year 7.
“Thank you for giving us the opportunity to help out in the workshops, we really enjoyed it!” Year 11 Drama student - Rafia.
We would also like to say a huge thank you to all those who helped make the events happen, we are very grateful for all the support.

Here are the November winners of Artist of the month:

Enterprise Group
Dear Parents/Carers,
Last week, our Sixth form students and staff from Enterprise group had an excellent opportunity to participate in a Christmas fair at HS2 site in Rickmansworth. They enjoyed running a Christmas sale for HS2 staff and absolutely loved free food and drinks served at the fair. All sale items were prepared by students at school.

Support available for families over the Christmas holidays
Dear parent/carer,
The festive holidays are almost upon us. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. With this cold weather I want to remind you that help is available over the Christmas holidays.
Warm Welcome Centres Hillingdon Council and its partners have opened a network of centres across the borough where you will be guaranteed a warm welcome, a place to come have a drink and a chat and stay warm. Many of these centres have access to free wi-fi and activities for parents and children. We know that keeping warm is important to maintaining good health and our centres are free to use and open to everyone. You can find your nearest warm space here: https://www.hillingdon.gov.uk/warm-welcomecentres
Cost of Living Support Christmas is always an expensive time of year, and if you are struggling to make ends meet due to rising prices information and support are available. https://www.hillingdon.gov.uk/cost-of-living Here you can find information about what financial support is available from the government. You can access debt advice and support with managing your finances. You can find help with reducing your energy bills and even find out if your children are entitled to free food and activities as part of our Holiday Activities and Food programme. https://www.hillingdon.gov.uk/december-haf
Your Family’s Health Our local health services are facing unprecedented pressure. So, we must do as much as we can to keep ourselves fit and well. Many groups of people in our borough are entitled to free COVID-19 boosters and flu vaccinations. They offer your best protection against becoming seriously ill if you catch these viruses. I would urge you to protect your family, your community and yourself by taking advantage of these vaccinations. They are available from your GP, pharmacy and many other locations. To find out more, visit: https://www.hillingdoncyp.cnwl.nhs.uk/
You can find lots of information about local health services and childhood illnesses on the add link to CNWL website. This includes information on how to manage your child’s illness at home, when to contact your pharmacist or GP and what action to take at the rare times when you need more immediate urgent care. We know that many parents are also concerned about other illnesses that we have seen an increase in over recent weeks. This winter, the NHS is encouraging people to get the help they need by using the NHS 111 online service. This service can assess and direct you to the most appropriate local help, including treatment centres, GP surgeries or your pharmacist. The service can also arrange a call back from a health professional if needed. If you need medical help fast, use NHS 111 online to get assessed and directed to the right place for you. Please visit: 111.nhs.uk Once again, I would like to wish you a safe and happy holiday period.
Kelly O’Neill,
Director of Public Health, London Borough of Hillingdon
