Dear Families
It was lovely to meet with some of you last night as we updated Pathway 1 parents on the Northwood Road development.
For those of you who were not able to attend, MIss Willis is making a recording of her presentation that will be shared with you, but I have included the key points below:
The hand over date is delayed to Summer - September 2024
Pupils currently in Year 13 or 14 in Pathway 1 will see out their education on the Royal Lane site
Pupils who are in years 7/8/9/10/11 next academic year 'may' transition to Northwood Road during the summer term or by September 2024
Pupils in years 12/13 next academic year will transition from September 2024
We are hoping to arrange for members of HIllingdon's transport team to come into school and meet individually with families who need to discuss their child's transport arrangements. If we are successful in organising this we will notify and invite families to make an appointment with the team.
Please look out for Miss Willis' presentation for more information.

Strike Action on
Wednesday 1st February 2023
As I am sure many of you are aware, teachers from the NEU teachers union voted to take strike action. The first of these days is Wednesday the 1st of February, and there are 3 other planned strike days in March. After completing a risk assessment and looking at what arrangements we can put in place, unfortunately we are not able to safely remain open as normal.
To allow us to remain open for some pupils this is a summary of the safety arrangements we have put in place for the 1st of February:
We hope to remain open for any pupils who are in Pathway 1 or Key Stage 3 or 4 in Pathways 2/3 (Years 7-11) where families have indicated that they cannot keep their children at home or where there are any safety concerns. If you have told us you are keeping them at home the absence will be authorised, but you have to tell us this in advance. Yesterday we sent out a text message and a Google form by email to all families of pupils in this group asking you to indicate whether you are able to safely keep children at home on this date. If you have not already done so please fill this in https://forms.gle/59QhykPrVYe9rLYf7
The school is not open to most 6th form pupils, however where the school or parents have identified a specific safety concern a place may be offered. In most cases parents will need to request this. A google form was sent out to all 6th form parents to allow you to indicate if you feel a place is needed https://forms.gle/Y7EgrpaQ8rTF1mbv5. Unless you have been told your child can attend they must not come to school on this day
The pupils in school on this day will not be following the timetable and so there will not be any normal lessons or teaching on this day. Pupils in classes where the teacher is not on strike will be with their form tutor or other familiar staff for the day. Pupils of striking staff will be covered by other non striking staff who are not in the NEU. Where possible the staff will be familiar, but this cannot be guaranteed.
Provision of school meals on the day will be unaffected, but the planned menu is likely to change.
Please note the plans we have made are based on the information we currently have but unfortunately this could change at any time up to and including on the strike day. As such ALL families should have emergency plans in place for pupils on the strike day just in case we are not able to safely open on the day.
The measures outlined above only apply to the strike on the 1st of February. We will plan other days closer to the time and will notify you about plans for these days nearer to the planned days.
People online might not be who they say they are and could be dangerous.
To keep your child safe you should tell them not to:
give out personal information, such as name and address, contact numbers, personal photos, bank details, PIN numbers and passwords, to people they only know online.
supply details for registration without asking for permission and help from you.
visit chat websites that are not fully supervised.
arrange to meet an online friend in person without your knowledge and permission (if you agree to let thj, you should always go along with them).
give any indication of their age or sex in a personal email address or screen name.
keep anything that worries or upsets them online secret from you.
respond to unwanted emails in other messages.
make use of parental controls on any Internet-enabled device by checking with the service provider's website.
agree boundaries with your child about what they can and cannot do online.
activate safe search settings on search engines.
monitor your child's Internet use by checking the history folder on your browser as it contains a list of previously visited sites.
instal and regularly update filtering software to protect against inappropriate Internet access.

Dear Parent Carer,
Child Flu Vaccination
The flu jab is one of the most important vaccinations offered to keep children protected this winter as the flu virus spreads easily especially in enclosed spaces like the classroom. For children with existing health conditions there is a higher risk of serious illness that could lead to hospitalisation.
As temperatures fall again in the coming weeks, getting vaccinated against flu gives your child that vital extra protection from this dangerous virus which spreads more easily in colder weather when we spend more time with friends and family indoors.
Secondary school-aged children in years 7 through 9 are eligible for a free flu nasal spray. The nasal spray is quick and painless, and most children will be able to get it at their school. If you have missed your child’s school vaccination, it’s not too late – you can still get a flu vaccine from your GP if your child has a long term health condition and is in the ‘at risk’ category or your local School Aged Immunisation Service as per the details below.
