Dear Families
I hope your child has told you about some of the activities and workshops they have taken part in during our Diversity Week.
Ms Kepinska with Ms Gaafar, Mrs Mitchell and our Skittles group put together a range of activities to celebrate our diverse community here at Meadow. Food tasting, dance, music, national / cultural dress, parades and more brought us together to learn and celebrate all we have in common and how our differences bring interest and richness to our community.
Thank you to everyone for participating.
Summer reading challenge
We were delighted to welcome Bernie McAteer from the Hillingdon Library Service to assembly this week to tell us about the Summer Reading Challenge.
|
|
|
This is free and a great way to encourage reading and keep your child occupied over the summer.
If they don't have a library card you can register online or go to your local library.
|
|
|
If you have a Hillingdon First card you can register with this and some official ID like a passport or driving licence and proof of your current address such as a recent household bill.
If you don't have a Hillingdon First card you can still join with your ID and proof of address, and you will be issued with a library card.
Thank you to family members who came to school to help us put out books in our newly refurbished library. The library is AMAZING, and we consider it the heart of our school. Not only will the new set-up make the books more accessible and engaging for pupils, we hope that the flexible space will also encourage pupils to use the library socially, to relax and to pursue their hobbies and interests.
If you haven't done a school tour yet, why not book onto one, so you can see this fabulous space!
Very best wishes to you all for a glorious weekend.
Mrs J Rigby
Headteacher

On Wednesday 14th June, Year 7 - 9 boys represented Hillingdon at the London Youth Games In Hackney. After a long journey there, they played brilliantly as a team against some very tough opposition. The boys never gave up and all said they had enjoyed themselves. Well done and a big thank you to Martha for her support.

Class 9LD Trip To Dr Chocs
On Wednesday, 9LD went to Dr Chocs in Windsor as part of their studies in Geography. They had previously learnt about rainforests and the farming of Cocoa beans.
The class listened to an educational talk about the process of producing chocolate and were able to taste the samples throughout its different stages of manufacture. Everybody made three chocolate bars for themselves where they could add the toppings of their choice. The students agreed it was a great trip out and all want to go back to make more chocolates!

Re: SORTED substance use and misuse support - Parent Webinar
Dear Parent/Carer/ Guardian
There are growing concerns locally and nationally for children and young people being exposed to teenage substance use as early as in primary school and therefore being at increased risk of grooming and child exploitation.
With the Summer Term fast approaching and your school year 6 child preparing for their transitions from primary to secondary school in September 2023, the SORTED team would like to invite you to a one-hour webinar on Monday the 10th of July at 10.00 and Tuesday the 11th of July at 18.30 to raise awareness of the issues around substance misuse and child exploitation.
The Substance Use and Misuse Programmes are widely known in the community as ‘SORTED’. The team are part of the London Borough of Hillingdon's Adolescent Development Services. We offer a range of interventions for children and young people ages 11-24, and to parents and professionals to address and minimalize the risks associated with substance use.
If you would like to book your place, please don’t hesitate to contact us via email
