Dear Families
It was good to see many of you at our parent / teacher evening this week. Apologies if you had difficulty using the booking system. We are looking into the issues.
In assembly this week we learned about the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller cultures. This is part of our ongoing work to increase our understanding of the wide range of people who make up our community. Pupils showed great maturity, understanding and interest during the assembly and afterwards. It is our belief that interest in each other's religions, cultures, origins and traditions increases understanding and supports tolerance, one of the British values.
Pupils and staff are recovering today from the amazing Promfest last night! Our young adults from Years 11 to 14 were able to join us for an evening of fashion, live music, dancing, friendship, chatting and food wagons! Mrs Sugden and
Mrs Tudor (with the help of an army of helpers) transformed the school and made it a magical evening for everyone involved. There are so many thank yous for an event of this size:
- Mrs Sugden and Mrs Tudor for the huge amount of work that goes into organising an event like this
- Our salon team who made the pupils look so handsome and beautiful
- Our prom shop staff for kitting out so many pupils in gorgeous outfits
- Mr Ellis and his musician friends for providing us with amazing live music
- Jordan from our Premises team for all he did on an incredibly long day
- All the staff who contributed to set up and pack down
- All the staff who supported pupils throughout the evening to ensure they had the best evening possible
Thanks and best wishes to one and all, and I hope you all have a good rest this weekend!
Mrs Rigby
Headteacher

Harwinder Won The
Jack Petchey Award For June
Harwinder always works hard, he is a good role model to others and supports other students around the school. I always hear him giving gentle encouragement to others when they are struggling and this is for a range of students, not just his friends. He really deserves to be recognised for this.
Well Done Harwinder!
Harwinder chose to spend £300 towards a new book shelf and books for the Common room.

"It was the ride of the year"
"The rides were so fast"
"We had so much fun"
We all had a fantastic day.

VACCINATIONS OVER THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS
Dear Parents,
We all want to keep our young people safe and protected from serious illness. This is why we are asking you to support a focus on encouraging parents in North West London to ensure that their child is up to date on their routine immunisation course. The summer holidays are a good opportunity to catch up on any outstanding vaccinations before children return to school and start mixing again.
Vaccination rates have been falling in London, which was further exacerbated during the pandemic. We need to maintain a high level of vaccine uptake across the population to reduce the risk of outbreaks and the potentially serious impacts on children’s health. Since February we have seen an increase in the number of cases of measles across North West London which may develop into life-threatening illnesses such as meningitis and pneumonia.
Booking a vaccine over the summer
Any young person in London who is not up to date with their routine childhood or teenage vaccinations can book one over the summer holidays.
Where do I get my child’s vaccine?
Your child can get their routine vaccinations at their GP surgery or via your local
school age team. They deliver the teenage vaccination programme of HPV from
year 8. Meningococcal ACWY (MenACWY) vaccine and the 3-in-1 teenage booster
vaccine which boosts protection against tetanus, diphtheria and polio. These are
both offered to young people aged 13 or in year 9. If they have been missed, they
can be caught up at any age.
The NHS has also been contacting the parents of children who are not fully
vaccinated to book an appointment at their GP practice or to access them at
specialist community clinics in your local area. These will continue over the summer.
For residents of:
Brent, Ealing, Hillingdon, Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea,
Westminster please use this link to book any outstanding teenage vaccines:

Hillingdon Family Hub and Early Years Nurseries Consultation
Hillingdon Council is inviting children, young people, families, carers, partners, providers and community organisations to have their say on its proposals to roll out a family hub model boroughwide and options for its early years nurseries.
Family hubs are one-stop-shops where all families can access important services. Hubs deliver these services from conception, through a child's early years, and until they reach the age of 19 (or 25 for young people with special educational needs and disabilities). Family hubs act as a single 'front door', making it easier for families to get the help they need, and to improve the support on offer.
The family hub model in Hillingdon would build upon existing services that are in place to support families in the early years, by evolving the children's centre offer to support older children and young people, while working with partners more closely to increase the range of support and services available.
Residents are also being asked to share their views on proposals regarding the future of the council's directly provided childcare in three early years nurseries, located in Hayes, Uxbridge and South Ruislip.
Have your say by completing our online form Family hub and early years nurseries consultation - Hillingdon Council before Sunday 30th July.
