Dear Families
To some of you, welcome back and to our new families, welcome to the community!
As you may have seen if you have been to school, we now have a large temporary structure on our blue playground. This is to allow the demolition of the classrooms at the back of the site.
This change has required us to completely alter our fire and evacuation plan. Pupils and their staff have been walking the evacuation routes this week and next week we start our planned, silent evacuation practice. We will then follow this up with an unplanned practice with the full fire alarm. If your child is new to Meadow, please let us know if they struggle with loud noises and fire alarms so we can do extra work to prepare and support them.
Pupils always spend the first 5 days of the new school year based in their class with their Form team. This allows both staff and pupils to: familiarise themselves with the group; get back into the school routine and structure; set up the pupils' Personalised Learning Intention Maps (PLIMS) and write or review the planning for the pupil.
I hope that by the time you are reading this bulletin any teething issues for new pupils have been addressed. If they haven't, please contact your child's Form team to discuss next steps.
I would like to thank our older, established pupils for the care and support they have shown to our newest community members. I have been very impressed to see you helping new pupils around the school.
On Wednesday 6th September there was a public consultation about the new school satellite, Northwood Road. We are now awaiting the final visuals of the new building and will then be arranging a virtual tour for all our Pathway 1 families. Please look out for the invitation!
May I wish you all a lovely weekend in this beautiful weather. Enjoy!
Kind regards
Mrs J Rigby
