Dear Families
Where did November go?!
As we enter the last three weeks of the term, we will have a few 'seasonal ' events and activities planned. Whilst we participate in Christmas Jumper Day, Christmas Dinners, trips and our annual 'Big Breakfast' on the last day of term, we are also very mindful of pupils' routine and structure. Staff will be supporting pupils to access events and maintain their regulation throughout this period.
Finding a balance point between routine and change can be a challenge for many pupils. This aspect of personal development is one we are constantly working on to find the strategies that allow pupils to tolerate change. This enables pupils to navigate Life Beyond Meadow with as little upset as possible with a view to enabling pupils to be active participants in their community.
If you find your child is struggling to access the community, please speak to their Form Tutor, so they can support you.
Very best wishes on the chilly weekend.

Home Reading Support Meeting
Friday 8 December 2023
1.20pm – 2.20pm
The focus will be
- phonic skills refresher (letter sounds and blending)
- top tips for reading at home (key skills)
- ideas for how to explore a book (engagement)
- exploring our school library
We know how important reading skills are for life and learning and, therefore, school and home working as a team to build a life-long love of reading is always the goal. Sessions will be run throughout the year, including an after school session in the Spring term for those unable to come along during the day.
If you would like to join the session on 8 December, please email asugden@meadowhighschool.org or complete the slip on the letter sent home this week.

The Foolish Fir Tree

Library Books Reminder
This is a gentle reminder that your child should be returning ALL books borrowed from the school library back to school. If your child has any books from the school library at home, please bring them back into school as soon as possible so these can be returned.
Books can be borrowed for two weeks, after which they will need to be returned to the library. If your child wishes to borrow their book(s) for longer than two weeks, they must speak to the Librarian.
As you will appreciate, new books are expensive, and the Librarian keeps track to ensure books are being returned on time. If book(s) are not returned, are lost or are damaged beyond repair, a letter will be sent home asking for payment towards a replacement.
Unfortunately, there is no alternative but to implement this course of action. Pupils who fail to return or lose their library books will be able to continue to enjoy books in the library but not be able to borrow library books until payment has been made. Please note that the Librarian will take any extenuating circumstances into consideration before issuing payment requests for replacements, and will discuss this with your child’s form tutor.
If you have any questions, please contact the Librarian, Miss S Gaafar, at sgaafar@meadowhighschool.org.
