Booster Cushion Theatre Visit to Meadow High School to Perform
'A Christmas Carol' by Charles Dickens
Our Year 7s and Class JR have been having fun learning about the original Christmas grouch, Ebenezer Scrooge. To help them with their studies, Philip from Booster Cushion Theatre took them on a spook-tacular Christmas Eve journey as the clock struck and the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future appeared........................
|
|
It turned out that not only Britain, but specifically Meadow High School, really has Got Talent, as our students joined Philip on stage and helped tell the tale. A huge well done to them all for being such a great audience and joining in the fun – Philip definitely wanted to come and visit again soon, and I know our students felt exactly the same!
The critics have spoken, and the reviews are good! Here is some of what they said:
‘It was awesome and I liked the noise, the doorbell.’ [Daniel’s drawing]
‘It was good, I liked it.’ [Austin]
‘Good. I liked the Ghost of Christmas Present bit.’ [Hamdan]
‘Good. I liked Scrooge.’ [Bartosz]
‘It was funny, my favourite bit was when he was dressing up as Scrooge, I liked the hat.’ [Lilly]
‘I got a chocolate coin for my signing.’ [Mahdi]
|
|
|
|
|
‘I thought it was really good when he told the story in a different way because when teddy went to sleep with Scrooge.’ [Emily]
‘My favourite part of the production was when Ayden was on the stage. My favourite part of the story was when he was sharing candies and called them Humbug.’ [Leul]
‘’My favourite part of the show was when Ayden became Bob Cratchit and got a big chocolate coin off Philip and when I was the rat catcher and Tishan was Fezziwig.’ [James]
‘My favourite part was when I was on stage. I liked when Teddy was playing football.’ [Ibrahim]
‘It was hilarious. I enjoyed when people stood up and doing crazy things.’ [Kenzie]
‘I enjoyed jokes, fun, it was cool.’ [Anas]
‘It was fun. It made me laugh. I enjoyed being Tiny Tim.’ [Rio]

Last Stop On Market Street
by Matt De La Pena
read by Miss Gaafar.
Every Sunday after church, CJ and his grandma ride the bus across town. But today, CJ wonders why they don't own a car like his friend Colby. Why doesn't he have an iPod like the boys on the bus? His Grandma answers all his questions and helps him see the beauty and fun in their routine and in the world around them.

|
Little Badman and the Time-Travelling Teacher of Doom
by Humza Arshad & Henry White read by Miss Gaafar.
I'm Humza Khan, the greatest rapper Eggington ever had. I've faced deadly alien slugs and killer aunties but now, I face something even scarier - my dad! He's pretty fed up with us being naughty, so he's sending us away to school. But this is no ordinary school. It is a special summer school in Pakistan, and man something weird is going on - someone has been messing with time!
