Covid
Since the last bulletin we have had one confirmed case of Covid-19 in the school community. We have followed the advice from Public Health England in regard to staff and pupils. Please be assured that this was not related to the previous confirmed case and was not transmitted from within the school.
Please may we remind you of the following Government advice:
- If the pupil has any symptoms of Covid-19 they should remain at home and have a test. They cannot return to school before a negative test result is confirmed or the end of their isolation period
- If anyone in the pupil's house has symptoms and/or a positive test the pupil should remain at home for 14 days. They should not have a test unless they develop symptoms.

6th form dress code
We expect our 6th Form students to maintain a smart office style appearance at all times.
One day each week we raise our expectation to interview standard clothing which is on Fridays.
We expect all students to reflect a modest and tidy appearance at all times.
The following clothing items are not accepted at any time in our 6th Form:
- Sports clothing - apart from when these are required for leisure options
- Track suits
- Beach clothing
- Denim jeans
Jewellery should be kept to a minimum
Nail varnish
If a student comes to school wearing nail varnish, they will be asked by their tutor or a senior member of staff to remove it immediately with nail polish remover.
If a student comes to school with nail extensions or long nails, they will be isolated during break and lunch time to minimise risk until the extensions are removed or cut down.
For clarity, fingernails should not protrude beyond the ends of the fingers.
Jewellery
Years 7 to 11
Pupils may wear one small pair of stud earrings. They will be asked to remove all other items of jewellery. If they refuse, the jewellery will be confiscated and returned at the end of the day. If the pupil wears jewellery on further occasions it will be confiscated and kept for parents, carers to collect.
Warm clothing
Pupils should have a warm, showerproof coat to wear at break times. They are also permitted an additional jumper or fleece to wear in class as rooms have windows open to ensure good ventilation.
Assembly
This week's assembly looked at feelings, particularly fear.
Why do we feel scared or anxious? What can we do to help ourselves or others?
Pupils had an opportunity to discuss with their class what strategies help them and to learn how they could help each other.
Thanks to Paige Hook in 11CL for choosing this week's play out music, 'In the room where it happened' from the show Hamilton.
Build
The footings for the new build are well underway and the steel frame has started to be erected. Don't forget to check out the 'Eye in the Sky' portal (details shared in Issue 9).
Best wishes to you all for a happy and healthy weekend.
