Dear Families,
I hope you all enjoyed the snow at the weekend!
Covid
In the upcoming half term week, schools have once again been asked to support the track and trace effort. This ONLY applies to pupils who have been attending school. All other track and trace will be completed by the NHS team.
If your child has been attending school and tests positive for Covid-19 up until Wednesday 17th February we would ask that you email jrigby@meadowhighschool.org or text 07851 254 246
Please ensure you include:
-
your child’s name
-
tutor group
-
the date when symptoms first appeared (if they had symptoms)
-
the date they took the Covid-19 test
-
the date of the confirmed Covid-19 test result
-
their last day in school.
We will inform other parents by email if their child has been a ‘close contact’ and is required to self-isolate.
For clarity, if your child tests positive for Covid-19, having developed symptoms more than 48 hours since being in school, the school should not be contacted in this case. Please follow contact tracing instructions provided by NHS Test and Trace.
Rapid lateral flow tests
England are temporarily pausing the need for a confirmatory PCR test following a positive result with a lateral flow test in secondary schools and colleges. In line with clinical advice, confirmatory PCR testing will remain in place for primary school staff as testing is done at home. Following a positive lateral flow test result, an individual will need to self-isolate in line with government guidance, and contact tracing will need to be undertaken.
If you haven't already done so, please complete the permission form for your child.
Please be aware that from this point forward, you will receive a text every time your child is tested, showing you the result.
Return to school
On Wednesday, the Prime Minister announced that it will not be possible to resume face-to-face learning immediately after the February half-term and instead hopes it will be safe to commence the re-opening of schools and colleges from Monday 8 March.
We have been told that education settings, as well as students, parents and carers will be given at least two weeks' notice to prepare for a return to
face-to-face education.
Engagement in Education
In line with Local Authority and Government guidance for pupils in Special Schools, we are required to ensure that pupils are engaging with education. If your child is not engaging with education from home, please speak to the form tutor for support with strategies. Where this is proving unsuccessful pupils may be required to restart onsite education.
Build
Both floors for the main building are currently being constructed. The Build
Team have been meeting with us this week to finalise the internal design and finishes for the buildings and we have our first visit to the site since the frame was built.
Take care and best wishes to you all.
