Dear Families
This is the end of our first week when all pupils have been moving about the school and having lessons in different / specialist rooms according to their individual timetables. During the 7-day period, when classes were form based, the class teams ensured that pupils knew how to navigate the school and where their lessons were located. This has helped all our pupils make a smooth transition into / back to school.
Evacuation Practice
We have had our first fire drill practice of the year (taking advantage of the nice weather and dry field!). Most pupils coped extremely well with the noise and large congregation of people. We have now created or updated PEEPS (Personal Emergency Evacuations Plans) for those pupils who require one.
As the academic year progresses we will have other drills, including fire drills with blocked exits and intruder lockdowns. Pupils are always prepared for these by the staff team who teach them. They learn what to expect, what to do and where to go. This year there will be some additional drills to take into account the move into our new buildings.
Covid
There has been one confirmed case of Covid in our community this week, but the person had not been into school for a period of time previously and had not had close contact with any pupils or staff.
As you know, children under 18 and a half are not required to isolate if they have had close contact but should take a PCR test.
Adults over 18 and a half who are double vaccinated are also not required to isolate following a close contact, but again, should take a PCR test.
Vaccinations for 12-15 year olds
Please find a link to guidance for parents / carers regarding the vaccination program:
We will be sending out consent forms should you wish your child to receive their first dose of vaccine. Any child who does not have a completed consent form will not receive the vaccination in school.
Should you wish to discuss this with your child please find a guide for children and young people here:
and a guide for 16/17 year olds here:
I am currently finding out whether pupils aged 16 or above who have not received their first dose of vaccine can receive it at school as part of this program. More details to follow.

Charity Walk For Peace - Sunday 19th September
Our friends and neighbours from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community have invited us all to join them on their annual Walk for Peace. Apart from 2020, staff and families have been invited to, and have taken part in, this inclusive event. As a school we have also been recipients of generous donations following the charity walk. This year the walk is taking place around the field here at Meadow, making it an ideal opportunity for our families to take part in a secure and familiar environment.
