Dear Families
As this Academic Year draws to a close, I wanted to take the opportunity to make you aware of some changes happening in the next 12 months.
I have tendered my resignation to the Governing Body effective at the end of July 2025 which gives the Governors an extended time period to recruit a replacement. I am making you aware of this now as the advert for the post will be going out in September. By giving this extended notice period, it will allow me to complete a full and effective handover to the new Headteacher. We are also extremely fortunate to have an experienced and established Senior Leadership Team in place who will assist the new Headteacher and ensure a smooth transition of Leadership.
Once the new Headteacher has been appointed I will write to all of you and introduce them.
Thank you all for your support this year and I look forward to a busy and exciting year ahead.
Very best wishes for a happy and safe summer break.
Mrs J Rigby

Engaging with a range of stories provides lots of extra learning opportunities. Check out our youtube channel where you’ll find a wide of stories to enjoy. Listening to stories can help boost reading and language skills. This summer we are running a competition to write stories for the new ‘Our Authors’ section of our library. Listening to and reading other stories is a great way to get inspiration!
We will be posting two new stories on Thursday 1st August ’24 AND Sunday 1st September ‘24.

Where Does Ice Cream Come From?
|
|
Your shopping!
Last week Friends of Meadow was delighted to support the ice cream van visiting school on a scorching Friday. We were able to do so thanks to money raised by your shopping on giveasyoulive.com. So far you’ve raised almost £1,000 for the school by buying what you’d buy anyway, but clicking through giveasyoulive.com.
So, thank you if you’ve helped already. If you haven’t, why not give it a try and we’ll be able to keep the treats coming!

10ZK – Visit to Tesco in Yiewsley
Students visited Tesco as part of the WOW session and employer engagement. During the visit, students had a great opportunity to see the back of the house operations e.g. warehouse, click and collect area, bakery, Sushi counter, chillers
and food freezers. Students were explained about the various job roles available within Tesco such as driver, security, till operators, customer service and so on. Students absolutely enjoyed carrying out practical tasks of filling bakery items and serving customers on the till.

Year 8 classes – WOW session with HS2 - SCS volunteers
All year 8 classes had a WOW session with HS2 volunteers who work through SCS (3 companies – Skanska, Costain and Strabag). During the session, volunteers explained students about HS2 work, their job roles and career journey. This session was focused on the importance of PPE in the construction sector. Students absolutely loved dressing up in PPE.

Safeguarding Concern - Social Media
Keeping Pupils Safe Online
Dear Families
We are having an increasing amount of social media concerns reported to us by pupils and their families. These include:
- bullying
- threatening behaviour
- inappropriate sexual behaviour on video calls
- the sharing of semi nudes and nudes
Smartphones
We would recommend that all parents / carers consider the safety implications of allowing their child to use a smartphone and if the decision is made to allow this, we recommend discussing appropriate and safe usage and the consequences of not doing so.
Monitoring
Please consider your child's age and digital behaviour when deciding whether to monitor their devices. We would recommend that monitoring takes place regularly. If you do choose to monitor, talk to your child about it and explain why it's important. NB No amount of monitoring can protect kids from everything and kids can often figure out how to get around parental controls!
What school can and can't do
We will support you with all instances of online abuse and bullying between our pupils but we will also have expectations regarding parents / carer monitoring their child's use and making safety decisions based upon their child's behaviour and safety. This might be upto and including removing a phone from a child, be they a victim or a perpetrator.
We will offer support and guidance for all online safety issues.
We can't fully investigate and enforce appropriate social media conduct out of school hours. Should you have ongoing concerns we would signpost you to the Safer Schools Police Team or directly to CEOPs or the Police.
We would not apply sanctions to pupils for behaviour on social media but we would put in place additional support, education and, where appropriate, interventions.
What parents / carers can do
- Limit their child's social media use to common areas of the home.
- Follow their child's accounts and monitor online activity.
- Set daily limits on social media use.
- Turn off GPS settings to disable tracking and geotags.
If you need support regarding any of the above, please contact your child's Form Tutor.
Best wishes for a safe online summer!
Kind regards,
Mrs J Rigby
